I’m John, but also known in the hobby as PritchCollects. As the handle suggests, I’m a massive collector at heart. My first memory comes from watching my older brother open Shoot Out packs!
So I guess really, somehow, you have him to thank for this, but don’t tell him as he’ll want commission.
After watching him collect and slowly complete binders, I got the bug and started myself, and since then, some way or another, I’ve always been into collecting.
If I had to describe what it is that I do in the hobby, as of today, I honestly couldn’t give you an answer. I’ve always enjoyed being involved in as many sides of the hobby as possible. I just want to see and help it grow.
The reason I started SlabSafe came from my recent travels to shows around Asia and the USA. At these shows, the majority of cards are displayed in colour-matched cases. Ultimately, the goal is, of course, to protect the cards on show, but for me, it massively increased the eye appeal and drew me in.
It was something I noticed was missing from the hobby within the UK. We have so many incredible cards being collected and displayed, but I don’t see the same level of attention being given to how those cards are presented.
That’s what SlabSafe is here to do. We want people to be able to show off and display their cards with extra eye appeal, while also not having to worry about them getting damaged.
